Episode 2: “Whispers in the Hallway”
Maya’s heart raced as she stood frozen in the dark room. The footsteps grew closer, echoing ominously off the walls. Just when she thought she would be caught, the figure stopped and turned, leaving the door ajar. She waited a few tense moments before daring to move.
Quickly, she slipped out of the room and made her way back upstairs, her mind buzzing with the revelations from the files. She needed to know more about “Project Bliss” and why the school was keeping such dark secrets.
The next day at school, Maya could barely concentrate. She kept glancing at the other students, wondering if they knew what she had discovered. During lunch, she overheard a group of students talking in hushed tones.
“Did you hear about the old science lab?” one girl whispered. “They say it’s haunted by a student who disappeared years ago.”
Maya’s ears perked up. “Yeah, I heard the same thing,” a boy replied. “Some say she was part of some secret experiment and it went wrong.”
Maya’s stomach churned. Could this be related to the files she found? She needed answers, but she didn’t know who to trust.
That afternoon, she headed to the library, hoping to find more information. She combed through old yearbooks and newspapers, piecing together bits of the school’s history. There were several mentions of students who had mysteriously left Bliss High, but nothing concrete.
As she flipped through an old yearbook, a page caught her eye. It was torn and crumpled, with a note scribbled in the margins: “Trust no one.” Maya’s pulse quickened. Someone had tried to warn her.
Just then, her phone buzzed. She pulled it out and saw an anonymous text message: “Meet me in the library at midnight if you want answers.”
Maya’s mind raced. Should she go? It could be a trap, but it might also be her only chance to uncover the truth. She made up her mind. She would go to the library at midnight.
That night, as the clock struck twelve, Maya slipped out of her dorm room and made her way to the library. The school was eerily quiet, and every creak of the floorboards seemed deafening. She reached the library and hesitated at the door. Taking a deep breath, she pushed it open and stepped inside.
The library was dark, with only the faint glow of moonlight filtering through the windows. Maya crept through the aisles, her heart pounding in her chest. Suddenly, a shadow moved, and she jumped, stifling a scream.
“Relax,” a voice whispered. “It’s just me.”
Maya turned and saw a figure emerging from the shadows. It was a boy around her age, with messy hair and a serious expression.
“Who are you?” she asked, her voice trembling.
“My name is Leo,” he replied. “I know about the files you found. I can help you, but you have to trust me.”
Maya eyed him warily. “How do I know you’re not part of this?”
“You don’t,” Leo admitted. “But I’m the only one willing to tell you the truth. Meet me here tomorrow night, and I’ll show you something that will change everything.”
Before Maya could respond, Leo melted back into the shadows and disappeared. She stood there for a moment, her mind reeling. What had she gotten herself into?
